What about somewhere for people to go so they can have a shower if we are going to be without water for up to 14 days (what date did the 14 days start from ?) I for one would like a shower there must be some showers near to Cheltenham not with our water supplier that people can go and use we don’t mind paying either ,I did hear LA Fitness had open their showers for people to use good on them ,any idea’s anyone ?

Although I am not currently in Cheltenham at the moment, I have found this blog to be both extremely informative and transparent, and has been very helpful for keeping abreast of the current situation – it is an excellent example of the good work being done by the council at this time, and of the way in which the power of the Internet as an informational resource can be harnessed to good effect. In fact, a general purpose council blog in a similar vein would be something to think about once things return to some semblance of normality! I’m sure it would be welcomed by a large number of Cheltenham residents, and would certainly demonstrate some forward thinking on the part of the council! Very impressed!

Whilst we have heard/seen folks getting upset about water supplies ( is Asda episode) the real folks of Cheltenham /Glocs/Tewkesbury are FANTASTIC. Our personal experiences are ones of “help each other”.I was assisted with my 5hr treck home last Friday nite by VOLUNTEERS helping road users in Barnwood; Wymans Lane and Bishops Cleeve all soaking wet all cheerful, helpful, unpaid willing volunteers – GREAT! Also BBC Radio Gloucestershire have been great keeping us all informed with accurate,up to date info on whats REALLY HAPPENING ( not national data hours wrong!!) – We all miss a shower (in bathroom) but hey come on folks we are the GLOUCESTERSHIRE LADS AND LASSES and will get through this maybe with a grimmace today but a smile tomorrow – lets keep up the wonderful community spirit.

Can you please try to put a bottled water distribution site on Coronation Square. There are a lot of people living in that area who do not have transport and therefore can’t get to Gallagher Retail Park which is currently the closest. There are also a lot of young children and vulnerable people. There are not enough bowsers to supply people there (the ones that are there are empty anyway)

Are further volunteers required to help out distributing the water over the next few days. If so, is there a central contact for people to offer their help?

Many thanks for your kind offer.

Right now we have council staff out in the community distributing water, however as time goes on we may well appreciate the help of volunteers.

If you would like to email contact details landline / mobile numbers etc to we will compile a list of volunteers and contact you when or if we need you.

    Once again, thank you.

Having read several stories about cleaning up after the floods I am a little concerned about them al telling people to wash their hands with soap and water – surely it would be better to get hand wash which doesn’t need water as this is anti bacterial and will also help to conserve water.
