Five water distribution points well stocked

Our five bottled water distribution points are now well stocked with plenty of water. Each location is open 8am to 8pm.

They are located at (see a map of locations):

  • B&Q, Arle Court
  • Morrisons, Up Hatherly Way
  • Sainsbury’s, Priors Road
  • Homebase, Tewkesbury Road
  • North Place car park

If you have elderly neighbours or relatives please check up on them and if they need supplies please collect water for them too. There is no problem with collecting bottled water for others in need.

As you arrive on site please be aware that we have lorries arriving regularly and fork-lifts unloading. The council staff on hand will direct you, and if you need assistance carrying water please just ask.

Having heard the taxi driver’s complaint this morning on BBC Radio Gloucestershire about not having access to any toilets, despite asking to use the Council’s facilities that they can see over the road from their rank, I would just like to stress the importance of getting even a few portaloos around the town for public use.

I appreciate they may be in short supply at the moment, but rather than aiming for the 1,000 mentioned on the radio, if the Council managed to obtain a small number for staff, surely we could get hold of a few more?

It would be a help to so many businesses who at the moment must be facing a bleak weekend’s trading due to lack of visitors to the area.
